San Diego Trip; Days 4-6

On Thursday, we made a "short" trip north, to Santa Clarita, to visit a childhood friend of Robert's. Unfortunately, we were so deep in conversation and catching up we completely forgot to take picture of the two of them. I guess we will just have to plan another trip soon. Before we got on the road we walked over to the Donut Bar downtown. These things were no joke!! Robert chose the maple bacon, topped with, well, bacon. Ethan had the Mexican Hot Chocolate, topped with chocolate glaze, marshmallows and chocolate powder. Brady chose the crushed oreo, topped with chocolate glaze, salted caramel, white chocolate, and peanuts (peanuts taken off because they are "Yucky"). I chose the best one. It was nutella filled and topped with powdered sugar. It was YUM!

PC: my apprentice, Ethan.

So I was bored in traffic.....I am super aware focus landed on the rearview mirror.  But, you know what......this captures up completely. Robert focused on the mission at hand, me focused on the kids, this just having fun....and all of it being a tad bit out of focus.
After a quick stop at the hotel when we got to town Robert wanted to show the boys his old stompin' grounds. So we stopped by the baseball fields he played at in his youth, his elementary school, his old house, and his high school.

After dinner with Enrique and family, we went to his house to play and chat. These kids were fast friends. The boys have been asking about Lena all week. We hope Lena had the best 5th birthday party last weekend!!

Friday morning we woke up, had breakfast at the hotel...waffles are a must it seems. Then we head out to sit in traffic. On the way back we stopped at La Jolla to check out the seals on the beach. It was probably my favorite part of the trip, outside of deciding I will one day live in Coronado, one day.
But, before we head out we had a little fun on the beds. I mean, that is the best part of staying at a hotel.

La Jolla!!

PC to Ethan. His best on yet.

As with all vacations, they must come to an end. While waiting for Grandma we did play some games before we left. Somehow, we went all week without any electronics! It was amazing. Go fish!
