Our little water dog

With an extremely busy Memorial Day weekend, our long weekend seemed really short!  Robert and I attended a great Wedding Weekend for one of my best friends, Kristin.  She was a beautiful bride with sweet and lovely bridesmaids.  I had a great time getting to know all of them.  I am so happy for Kristin and her new hubby!  Thanks for letting us be apart of all of your festivities.

But, after all of the exciting wedding madness died down on Sunday morning we were able to fit in some relaxing time at the lake with Grandma and Grandpa Flynn and Uncle Mike.  Since the water was a little choppy we decided to head down to the pool.  Great fun was had by all!  Ethan absolutely loves to play in the water.

Laughing at a little girl that kept coming up to play with him

He thought playing peek-a-boo was just as fun with his sun shade

When we tired of the water we were either eating or playing in the golf cart.

Thanks so much to John and Allison and my mom for taking care of Ethan this weekend while we were participating in the Wedding Extravaganza!  We had a great time!  We couldn't get by without you!

After a long weekend off I think I need a vacation.  Good thing I have a mini vaca coming up with the annual sister trip this weekend!!  I will miss my boy.  But, Robert is excited (I think) to play single parent for the weekend.  Maybe a guest blogger next week?

11 months old

Only one more month til the big 1.  This little eleven month old is a precious little stinker.  We don't have a lot going on lately.  We have just been enjoying our little guy and the joy he brings us each day.  He is so happy all of the time that it is impossible for us to not be in a good mood.  These days are typical of a trip to the grocery store, playing at the park with play group, or just going to lunch.  Either way, Ethan has made it his job to make friends with passersby by yelling at the at them to get their attention, at least in a friendly manner.  Lucky for me they think it's cute.

Stats:

Weight: close to 24 pounds
Height: he won't sit still long enough to see.
Teeth: The top left front is breaking through.  I give it another day or two before it is here.  Poor thing is having a hard time with it.
Formula: 18-20 oz, started using the sippy cup for most of our bottles these days.  Phase 1 of weaning from the bottle complete.  One month to complete Phase 2.
Solids:  Pretty much the same as last month.  But, we have started to eat mainly finger foods.  Either out to lunch or at home, he eats off of our plates a lot.  We have been giving a lot of veggies that are easy to eat like peas, cut up carrots, and corn.  He loves cubes of cheese, beans, egg whites, pancakes, and ravioli.
New tricks: Lip smacking, fish face, singing in the car, and using a straw.  He also has a new thing of playing possum.  He will crawl around for a little bit and then randomly sprawl out, put his head down, and close his eyes to pretend to sleep (while smiling).  Then he gets back up and continues on his way.  He also likes to lay on the couch pillows now.  He puts his little head on them and smiles with a relaxed look on his face.
Characteristics:  His personality is really starting to shine through.  Two of my favorite things he is doing now - when he gets excited about something he will smile and twist his hands, look at them, and sticks his hands up in the air.  And, if he wants your attention he will stick one hand above his head and shake it until you come grab it and give him a hug.  It is so sweet.
Likes:  He loves Turk.  He loves to pick up his ball or bone and hand it to him and giggles uncontrollably when Turk grabs it.  He is also loving pushing his walker around the house.  And of course his little girlfriend, Abigail.  They even "held hands" at lunch the other day while they were in their highchairs.  They are always a ball.

Other tricks:

Singing with Dad

Playing at the pool.  Loves slapping the water.

Sorry for the fuzziness and the white legs.

He found his monitor.  It has since been moved.  But, still a little creepy

Geez Mom!  Please stop!

Check out my new tooth coming in!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Our First Mother's Day

I truly enjoyed this day.  But, who knew Mother's Day = eat yourself into discomfort day?  I loved soaking in all of my little guy.  Robert went above and beyond in the gift department to make sure that I will always remember my first Mother's Day.

But, before we go into our day I want to say how truly blessed I am to have such a great mom and mother-in-law to teach me to be a great mom to Ethan.  I have been learning from my mom since the day I was born I guess.  She has taught me to be patient and caring among many, many other things.  Allison has taught me to roll with the punches.  To take whatever comes in stride and know that in the end it will give you something to laugh about.  They are both such great role models for me.  I don't know where we would be without them.  I love you both!

We started the day just relaxing at home in our pjs until it was time for lunch.  As we do each year, we had brunch with the Flynn clan in Southlake to celebrate the three mothers in the family.  John (Grandpa Flynn) always so sweetly spoils us all.  There is really no wonder why the three boys are so generous and kind.  Timmaron really knows how to put a buffet brunch together.  The buffet was filled with lots of yummy goodies to choose from.  After brunch we went back home to relax a little more before heading out to dinner at Mercado Juarez with my parents and Carissa and Jason.  I told you, lots of food.  I was miserable at the end of the day.  But, it was all so yummy.

Back to Robert going above a beyond....I was given a beautiful topaz necklace (my birthstone).  It is gorgeous.  Ethan did a great job of picking it out I am sure.

I hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day!

Family Picture Day

It has been a few weeks since we had a post.  We haven't been too busy, just not a lot going on.  Just the daily routine happening over here.  Awhile back we were offered a free family photo session from a photography studio in Ft. Worth.  A few weeks ago we decided to take them up on their offer and get some family pictures taken while the weather is still nice.  They turned out great!  I was a bit worried Ethan would not cooperate.  He is so difficult to photograph at home.  He tends to get a little distracted by trying to play with my camera.  But, he did great.  Here are some of my favorites!

So out of 100+ photos it was hard to decide which ones I like best.  And thank you to our photographer for the complimentary session!  I am so pleased with how they turned out!

We are working on walking.  He is getting a little better at pushing his pushy toys around each day.  Some days I am ready for it, other days I am not.  Other things that have been taking our time in the past couple of weeks:

Uncle Mike's Birthday Dinner

Riding around the block with my girlfriend

Glad we don't have pull down knobs

Making friends with Turk

A live performance with Dad
